What’s the issue?
Since 2020, the Express Entry system has been operating inconsistently:
- no clear draw schedule
- sudden and unclear invitation rounds
- very high cut-off scores
- no explanations for skipped draws
This creates uncertainty for thousands of candidates — especially those already studying or working in Canada.
What are experts proposing?
1. Provide more detailed pool data
Specifically — a breakdown in 10-point intervals within the 501–600 CRS range, so candidates can realistically assess their chances.
2. Explain skipped draws
Even brief reasons such as “technical delay” or “quota reallocation” would reduce anxiety and build trust.
3. Allow corrections for technical errors in eAPR
Currently, applications can be refused for minor issues — with no opportunity to clarify or resubmit missing details.
Why does this matter?
- People are stuck in limbo for years
- Express Entry has become a high-stakes lottery
- Canada risks losing strong candidates who are already integrated
Transparency and predictability
are not “bonus” features — they’re the foundation of trust in the system.
The proposed changes are simple, yet real steps toward a more humane immigration policy.
