Нові умови отримання Open Work Permit для сімей іноземних студентів
Відтепер право на відкритий дозвіл на роботу для подружжя або громадянських партнерів іноземних студентів обмежується винятково окремими категоріями навчальних програм. Згідно з новими правилами, OWP для супроводжуючих осіб доступний лише у таких випадках:
- навчання основного заявника за програмою магістратури тривалістю від 16 місяців і більше;
- навчання за програмою здобуття наукового ступеня PhD (доктор філософії);

Зміни також стосуються сімей іноземних працівників, які подають заявки на відкриті дозволи на роботу у Канаді. Відтепер члени родини мають право на OWP лише за умови, якщо основний заявник офіційно працює у Канаді в одній із пріоритетних галузей:
- природничі та прикладні науки;
- будівельна сфера;
- сфера охорони здоров’я;
- галузі, пов’язані з розробкою та використанням природних ресурсів;
- освітня сфера;
- спорт;
- військова служба або суміжні оборонні напрямки.
Якщо основний працівник зайнятий в інших секторах, супроводжуючі члени сім’ї не матимуть права претендувати на відкритий дозвіл на роботу.
Практичні наслідки для заявників
Запроваджені зміни суттєво впливають на імміграційні стратегії та сімейні плани іноземців, які планують навчання або роботу у Канаді. Зокрема, слід враховувати такі аспекти:
- супровід сім’ї більше не гарантує автоматичної можливості для їхнього працевлаштування;
- необхідно ретельно перевіряти відповідність навчальної програми або виду зайнятості новим критеріям, перш ніж подавати заяву;
- зміни можуть вплинути на фінансові та соціальні можливості сім’ї протягом перебування в Канаді;
- для осіб, які вже перебувають у Канаді зі статусом члена сім’ї студента чи працівника, можливість продовження OWP також може бути обмежена згідно з новими вимогами.
